Change in leadership at Gibson Innovations
Wiebo Vaartjes (pictured) has stepped down from his role as CEO of Gibson Innovations and will continue in a transitional role as a consultant with the company through to the end of the year.
The announcement was made by Gibson Brands CEO Henry Juszkiewicz, who will assume all responsibilities associated with the role on an interim basis.
“We are very excited about the opportunities with Gibson Innovations and are moving swiftly to create a high performance organisation that is optimised for growth and is more responsive to the needs and dynamics of modern consumers,” said Juszkiewicz. “Since we acquired Gibson Innovations in mid 2014, I have had the opportunity to work closely with Wiebo and would like to thank him for spearheading the transition of the business from Philips to Gibson Brands.”
Wiebo Vaartjes joined Philips in 1985. In 1989 he joined the CE division and held several diverse roles across Europe and Asia. He has led the business since 2006 and played a key role in driving the Philips brand in consumer electronics in that time.
Gibson Brands is a global leader in musical instruments, consumer electronics and professional audio. It expanded its reach into consumer markets with the acquisition of Philips Home Entertainment, now named Gibson Innovations, last year. The company has a portfolio of 100-plus well recognised brand names including consumer electronics brands Onkyo, Integra, TEAC and Esoteric.
