Hoover Candy sponsors local school rugby team
Merythr Tydfil-based Hoover Candy has sponsored Barry Comprehensive School’s Under-14s rugby team, providing a donation for the purchase of new kits for the team’s Barcelona rugby tour in April this year.
Having played together for more than two years, the team has enjoyed a number of triumphs, becoming the Blues South Champions at 15-aside and, its most prestigious victory to date, being awarded the Regional Cup for the Blues Schools Under-13 Championships.
“The Under-14s at Barry Comprehensive School is a fantastic local team which has worked hard over the seasons to not only increase its player count, but win tournaments all over the country,” said Steve Macdonald, marketing director of Hoover’s freestanding division.
“We are delighted to offer our support by sponsoring the team’s kit for the tour to Spain. We wish them the best of luck in their forthcoming games and look forward to hearing how the boys fair in the tournament.”
School rugby coach Dai Manley added: “We are delighted to receive this generous donation from Hoover. The players love their new kit and cannot wait to kickstart the tour.
“On behalf of the school, I would like to thank Hoover for this support. The new shirts look great, so fingers crossed they bring us some luck in Spain.”
