MoMA Design Store to showcase VinylPlay in ‘best of British’
Flexson has announced that its VinylPlay digital turntable has been selected by the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) Design Store to appear in its NYCxDesign 2015 London Tech City collection, which celebrates the best of British technology.
VinylPlay will be demonstrated and sold in MoMA Design Store outlets during New York Design Week, and will also feature in the London Tech City collection on MoMA’s Design Store website from May 15th until the end of June.
“VinylPlay is a truly British reboot of the record player,” said Tony Jones, Flexson business manager and lead product designer. “For our design to be recognised by the MoMA Design Store is a real honour.”
“London has provided us with countless inspirational ideas when sourcing for the Design Store,” commented Emmanuel Plat, Director of Merchandising for MoMA retail.
“We noticed a trend in our last visit that many of the most interesting tech items were being designed and produced in London. The passion and commitment to accessible technological products is what drove the MoMA Design Store to celebrate these designs this spring.”
Flexson, which specialises in accessories for SONOS, created VinylPlay to bridge the gap between complex, audiophile turntables and poor-quality digital decks. The company said the unique, precision-made UK design combines true hi-fi quality with plug-and-play usability and digital functionality, allowing vinyl fans to easily play and digitally archive their records, and stream them via SONOS products.
