Onkyo launches THX System Home Cinema

Onkyo has unveiled a new THX Integrated System-certified home cinema in a single carton,  requiring just connection to a TV (or projector) and the addition of a source..

The 7.1-Channel HT-S9800THX A/V Receiver/Speaker Package supports object-based soundtracks, pass-through of 4K HDR features including HDR10, Dolby Vision, HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma), and BT.2020, as well as wireless multi-room audio distribution and music streaming.

It retains Onkyo’s 2-way acoustic-suspension speakers, A-OMF drivers and front-firing subwoofer, and adds  a new 165w/ch network A/V receiver. Users can play spatially-mixed Dolby Atmos and DTS:X soundtracks, and Dolby Surround and DTS Neural:X up-mix legacy soundtracks on DVD and Blu-ray.

Selectable 5 GHz/2.4 GHz Wi-Fi supports Chromecast built-in. Users can stream to the receiver from any supported music app. AirPlay, DTS Play-Fi, and Bluetooth wireless audio technologies are also on board.

Video performance uses pass-through of HDR10, Dolby Vision, HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma), BT.2020, and 4K/60p/4:4:4/24-bit video via six rear HDCP 2.2-compliant HDMI terminals, ensuring wide compatibility with Ultra HD televisions offering 4K High Dynamic Range reproduction.

The HT-S9800THX A/V Receiver/Speaker Package is available in June at an RRP of   £1299.99.
