Pioneer’s new digital audio player available in May
The compact XDP-30R offers DSD 5.6 MHz and 192 kHz/32-bit playback of popular Hi-Res Audio formats, high bitrate (192/32) upsampling for enhanced clarity, and the ability to render lossless and compressed files with brilliance. Support for the MQA format will, says Pioneer, be delivered later this summer via a firmware update.
The scratch-resistant 2.4in touchscreen allows navigation of large music libraries of anything up to 416 GB (including expandable memory.) Inside the lightweight aluminium chassis are twin SABRE ES9018C2M D/A converters and ESS9601K high-output amplifiers, capable of driving headphones of 16–300 Ohms (or 32–600 Ohms when used in BTL Mode). As well as a 3.5 mm output, there’s also a 2.5mm 4-pole jack which enables BTL or ACG balanced output.
Dual-band Wi-Fi allows streaming from built-in services such as TIDAL and TuneIn, with more leading services, says Pioneer, due to be added via a firmware update. Owners can also cast to their home hi-fi or car audio system over Bluetooth, or use headphone jacks for a hard-wired line output to their audio components.
Priced at £349.99, the XDP-30R, available in either black or silver, goes on sale in May in the UK.
