Whirlpool readies for National Quiet Day

Tomorrow, 14th September, is National Quiet Day, an initiative established by Whirlpool in association with academics in the field of noise and psychology to encourage people to take time out to enjoy the physical and mental benefits of peace and quiet.

The manufacturer will be engaging in a social media campaign to promote the initiative, and will be offering the opportunity to win a Whirlpool Supreme Care washing machine, which has a quiet spin cycle of 68 decibels.  

In a national survey of 2,000 adults, commissioned by the company to highlight the problem of noise in UK households, it was discovered that nearly a quarter of people felt that the most annoying noises are produced in the home and over 47% considered the washing machine to be the noisiest kitchen appliance.

“With today’s society suffering from an increasing busyness, everyone’s daily life is full of sound and activity. Unwanted noises fill our ears, and sometimes we don’t realise the negative effect that noise has on all of us,” said Brand Manager Catherine Balderson.

“As the manufacturer of the quietest spinning washing machine, Whirlpool understands the importance of quiet in people’s lives, and National Quiet Day is a way to help the consumer engage with the brand‘s quest for quiet in a new and stimulating way.”
