Beko HarvestFresh cooling technology brought to UK market

Beko has brought its HarvestFreshTM cooling technology, unveiled at IFA Berlin in 2019, to the UK market in a new collection of fridge freezers.

The patent-pending technology uses light to replicate the sun’s natural 24-hour cycle to preserve vitamins in vegetables and fruit for up to five days after they leave the shop floor.

During the first four hours of the cycle the crisper lights shine blue to reproduce the first light of the day. This is followed by two hours of green light to replicate midday and a further six hours of red light to imitate the tones of dusk, before turning dark for 12 hours to represent night. The idea is to expose fruit and vegetables to the similar light cycle they would experience when growing in their natural environment.

Simulating the sun’s cycle in a fridge is a totally new concept and has been independently verified by global technology research company Intertek to verify that it preserves vitamins A and C for five additional days.

The cooling technology is now available on a variety of different models including freestanding and integrated fridge freezers, American-style side-by-sides, and multi-door fridge freezers.
