CIH names suppliers of the year

Buying group CIH has revealed its best suppliers of 2020, paying tribute to them virtually at the group’s annual suppliers’ lunch, which this year was hosted via Zoom due to the pandemic.

Chairman of the buying group Steve Scogings presented the awards, firstly naming BSH as White Goods Supplier of the Year, “a company which has continued to provide us with market leading products as well as a comprehensive range of exclusives though our warehouses,” he said.

The Brown Goods Supplier of the Year, Sony, was described as “a brand that has continued to show they are willing to work with CIH.” Scogings elaborated: “They have kept the warehouses supplied with their products whilst working on new and innovative ways to promote the business too.”

The third award – the brand that has shown a commitment to the independent – was received by Whirlpool and presented by Scogings as “a brand that has really stepped up during this turbulent year.  It really has supported the independent with stock availability and its team of sales managers have been available to help whenever the need arose.”

The final award for the members’ supplier of the year – a new award category – was received by BSH, and, according to Scogings, “it was a close-run competition at the top”.

BSH is “a brand that has shown its commitment to us all,” he said. “Their independent sales team have been available throughout the pandemic, except those forced to isolate, and although like others they have had stock issues, they have delivered record turnover through the membership.

“They not only achieved this through our warehouses but also through their direct business too. It is a special honour to be awarded by one’s peers and the members voted overwhelmingly for the winner.”
