ESSE launches “cleanest ever” wood burner

ESSE, the British company that manufactures its wood burning stoves at Barnoldswick in Lancashire, has announced the introduction of “the cleanest wood burning stove it has ever built,” the ESSE 175 which, says the company, “exceeds Ecodesign requirements by up to 83 per cent without compromising output or burn control.”

The ESSE 175 is available as two models, with classic feet or a solid base, and delivers 5kW of heat from a design created to fit with interior design styles “from rustic rural cottages with inglenooks to minimalist free-standing installations.”

The stove uses a three-stage combustion process “to extract every last bit of energy from each log burned,” incorporating ESSE’s own Particulate Reburn™ Technology, which reignites gases and particles to minimise emissions while maximising heat output.

ESSE says it is “in the process of future-proofing its range of clean-burning wood-fired stoves, and engineers are utilising their world-leading expertise in clean combustion technology to reduce particulate emissions still further, without compromising performance and control.”

The ESSE 175 also features ESSE’s Precision BurnTM technology, delivering precise control of air circulation and the ability to fine tune the combustion rate at every stage of the burn cycle. The ability to control the intensity of the fire and speed of combustion improves the efficiency of the stove whilst reducing the running costs and emissions.

The ESSE 1 series, 500 Series, Bakeheart and Warmheart stoves already surpass the 2022 Ecodesign emissions requirements and ESSE is working with scientists from Manchester University to develop the next generation of clean-burning stove technology.

“The results of independent testing by Kiwa Gastec,” adds ESSE, “show the ESSE 175 is the cleanest burning stove ESSE has ever built, surpassing all the latest targets for carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides (NOx), hydrocarbons and dust particles.

The new ESSE 175 will retail at £1,495 inc VAT (with feet) and £1,500 inc VAT (with solid base).
