Four Red Dots for AEG

The Electrolux group has been recognised with four Red Dot 2021 design awards across AEG’s product ranges.

The products, said Electrolux, impressed the international judging panel “in areas of innovation, functionality, formal quality and ergonomics,” to achieve four accolades in what is, according to Pernilla Johansson, chief design officer at Electrolux, “one of the most coveted [awards] in the world of product design.”

The winning products are:

AEG Matt Black Kitchen Collection This collection uses an etching process to create a matt glass fascia, a technology most associated with artwork and architectural components. The resulting matt texture has natural anti-fingerprint properties which means it is more resistant to stains and easier to clean, as well as being aesthetically striking.

AEG AX7 and AX5 air purifiers Launching this May, the AEG Air Purifier series focuses on premium design as well as high performance and sustainability. No paint is used in achieving the range of calm, décor-versatile colours, and the textile covers (made from recycled PET bottles), handles and feet can be exchanged and customized to fit the lifestyle of the owner.

AEG QX6/QX7/QX8 stick cleaner This stick cleaner range features innovations such as an easy-grip handle and low weight distribution, making it lighter in hand for more effortless maneuvrability and comfort in longer cleaning sessions. The Axial cyclonic technology “ensures uncompromised performance throughout the clean, even while the dust bin fills up.” The full tilt and slim frame enables cleaning under furniture as low as 135 mm from the ground.

Care drum The new ‘Care’ drum, due to be integrated into AEG laundry products globally from 2022, began with the consumer insight that many people hand wash delicates because they don’t trust their machine to do so without causing damage to clothing. The close dialogue between engineering and design culminated in an innovative solution, with the resultant Care drum significantly gentler on fabrics. Abrasion to all clothing, not just delicates, says Electrolux, “is significantly reduced as garments glide smoothly thanks to the elevated cushion-like drum pattern and optimized lifter paddle. A thin film of water covers the holes during washing to provide a gentle laundry process.”

Luke Harding, General Manager at Electrolux UK & Ireland, commented: “We are absolutely delighted to win not just one but four Red Dot awards for design excellence across our AEG product range. Our aim with AEG appliances is to not only exceed our consumers’ technical requirements but also to fit seamlessly into their homes. A focus on sleek product design and aesthetics, alongside innovative technology, allows us to provide a fully premium experience to consumers”.
