Freeview Play TVs now account for one in three smart HDTVs sold
Subscription-free TV service Freeview has announced that sales of Freeview Play TVs and set-top boxes have surpassed a million.
Freeview Play was launched late 2015 to bring UK consumers a combination of live, catch-up and on-demand content.
Freeview Play TVs now account for 34% of smart HDTVs sold in the UK. It is supported by more than 20 leading brands, making it the most widely adopted service by manufacturers for catch-up TV in the UK.
Further major announcements and product developments are scheduled for this year.

The 2017 Freeview Play specification includes optional support for Ultra HD (4K) and HDR content for programmes delivered via broadband.
