Gino D’Acampo draws in the crowds at Sparkworld in Somerset

Hundreds of local shoppers gathered at Sparkworld in Somerset as the retailer teamed up with Zanussi to celebrate the opening of a new kitchen showroom with a two-day charity event, at which Italian chef Gino D’Acampo and cookery duo The Main Ingredient provided interactive cookery demonstrations.

Sparkworld raised more than £2,500 from ticket sales for St. Margarets Hospice in Somerset. VIP tickets for the event sold out, with generous donations reaching up to £50 for a front row seat to watch D’Acampo cook a traditional pesto spaghetti dish. Ticket holders also received a signed copy of the Italian chef’s latest cookery book ‘Pronto! How to cook Italian in 20 minutes’.

A raffle and grand prize draw offered the opportunity to win prizes including a Zanussi oven, hob and hood set, and the retail outlet offered 20% off all Zanussi appliances in a promotion running until Monday 5th May.

“It was great that everyone worked in partnership to make this a successful day,” said Sparkworld Ltd Director Tristan Cook. “We are delighted to have raised £2,500 for charity and want to thank everyone who made a donation.

“We’d also like to say a big thanks to Zanussi and Gino for popping in and we are looking forward to some post-event sales as shoppers continue to take advantage of this great discount.”
