Good move for Hughes Trade…

A recent decision by Hughes Trade to relocate its Basildon operation to much larger premises in Essex is paying dividends, the business has said.

The 7,500 sq ft premises in Stadium Way on the outskirts of Rayleigh Weir was opened by Hughes Electrical in summer last year following a £250,000 investment.

Hughes Trade says it has since seen an increase of over 25% in sales.

General manager Paul Chisnall commented: “Having a lot more space means we have much higher stock levels and being part of a retail store makes it easy for customers to look at equipment they are interested in.

“Situated right by the A127 has enabled us to win more customers from the Southend area, while still being able to serve our existing ones.”

Chisnall added that the business is seeing particularly strong growth in its rental side.  “This is because it offers so many advantages, such as managing cash flow and taking the worry out of anything going wrong, while for most businesses it is 100% tax deductible.”

Hughes Trade supplies a wide range of electrical goods to businesses including builders, the hospitality trade, care & educational sectors and tourism industries.
