GradoLabs makes a new Statement

GradoLabs, currently best known for designing and manufacturing high-end headphones, has drawn upon it long history as a producer of high quality phono cartridges (founder Joseph Grado invented and patented the moving coil cartridge in 1959), to produce a moving iron model – The Statement 2 – in its pursuit of “ultimate sound quality.”

The Statement 2 – claimed by GradoLabs to be “the finest cartridge Grado has ever produced,” is the result of the decision to move away from pure moving coil designs, and more than two years’ analysis and upgrading of every design parameter of the company’s former flagship cartridge.

This new cartridge, hand built in the USA, has a bespoke precision-cut nude diamond stylus mounted on a boron cantilever, and its low-resonance Australian Jarrah hardwood body houses four reconfigured fixed coils creating a generating system with a lower mass than any moving coil cartridge. Grado says the Statement 2’s optimised mass distribution means it’s one of the world’s most stable tracking phono cartridges.

  • Output: 1mV @ 5 CMV
  • Controlled Frequency Response: 8Hz -70KHz
  • Channel Separation: Average 45 DB – 10Hz -30KHz
  • Load: 47,000 OHMS
  • Inductance: 30 mh
  • Resistance: 72 OHMS
  • Non Sensitive to Capacitive Load
  • Chassis Mass: 10 Grams
  • Tracking Force: 1.5 – 1.9 Grams

The new Grado Statement 2 is available now and is priced at £3,000 including VAT.
