HarvestFresh by Beko simulates 24-hour cycle of the sun

Beko is using IFA 2019 to unveil a technology that simulates sunlight in order to preserve vitamins for longer and keep fruits and vegetables “as fresh as the day they were picked”.

HarvestFresh, an illumination technology which will be available across a range of refrigerators, uses three colours (green, blue and red) which simulate natural sunlight and the 24-hour cycle of the sun to recreate a natural living environment for fruits and vegetables long after they have been harvested.

Beko said studies have shown that the technology has helped preserve vitamin A and vitamin C levels for much longer.

“At Beko we believe passionately in creating new products and technologies that meet the wellbeing needs of today’s consumer,” said the company’s Chief Marketing Officer Zeynep Yalim Uzun.

“We know that they do not always find it easy to eat healthily and [we] are committed to doing all we can to make their lives easier and healthier.”

HarvestFresh will be available across selected lines from 2020.
