Hotpoint augmented reality app “puts” appliances in consumers’ homes

Consumers can now visualise Hotpoint appliances in their homes before making a purchase, through the Point & Place app, an augmented reality app that allows shoppers to select products and place them in their own home, using their device’s camera. Consumers can evaluate the look, size and general style of the appliance and decide whether or not it fits within their home.

The app is responding to the fact that many consumers (up to 79%) will view products online that they go on to purchase in-store. Point & Place allows consumers to visualise the product they have seen online in their own home, before visiting a showroom to get a feel for it in real life.

Consumers can browse through hundreds of appliances across a variety of categories including dishwashers, fridge freezers and hobs. There is the choice to browse by room, or by category, and shoppers can then point and place the item in their home for an interactive AR shopping experience. Consumers can also type ‘Hotpoint’ into the search bar to find all of the Hotpoint appliances available on the app, or enter the product code for a specific product. Shoppers can use the app to place it exactly where they would put it within their kitchen or utility room, to decide whether the aesthetic of the appliance meets their needs and requirements.
