Laundry: FreshCare+ added hygiene from Whirlpool

Whirlpool’s latest FreshCare+™ washing machine range benefits from an improved design and new features: Steam Refresh and Steam Hygiene.

The 9kg model (FFD 9448 BSV UK) pictured incorporates 6TH SENSE® technology and the FreshCare+™ system, which continues to tumble garments after washing for up to six hours to keep items feeling and smelling fresh, although the feature is not compatible with programmes for delicate garments and duvets.

The Steam Refresh feature penetrates fibres to freshen laundry in just 20 minutes, removing odours and reducing creasing, while the new Steam Hygiene option fills the drum with steam at the end of the cycle and maintains a temperature between 70°C and 80°C for 30 minutes to remove up to 99.9% of the most common bacteria from the load. This feature is tested and certified by Allergy UK and can be added to all compatible programmes.

The FreshCare+™ washing machine range also incorporates 7kg and 8kg capacity models and while some features may vary, the appliances have been redesigned to offer improved programme visibility and ease of use due to enhanced display graphics. A Flowbar provides users with instant feedback on the progress of the wash programme.

Whirlpool Brand Manager Charmaine Warner commented: “We’ve redesigned our FreshCare+™ washing machines based on consumers’ washing behaviours and the increasing need for hygiene at home.

“The new range combines superior performance with our intuitive 6TH SENSE® technology to offer consumers a washing machine to meet the needs of their busy lifestyles, while the brand new Steam Hygiene feature is a tremendous benefit, providing extra protection, by removing 99.9% of bacteria from the laundry.”
