Media 4: sound quality that promises to raise the ‘sound bar’

Armour Home brand Q Acoustics has launched ‘Media 4’, a stereo 2.1 configuration soundbar with 100 Watts of multi-channel power amplification, aptX BluetoothTM connectivity and a built-in subwoofer.

The left channel and right channel speakers are 65mm x 65mm advanced BMR (Balanced Mode Radiator) designs that deliver ultra-wide sound dispersion and the subwoofer is a twin coil 150mm x 120mm elliptical design which produces a fast, detailed and extended bass. Sound quality has been fine tuned using high precision digital filters in a Digital Signal Processor.

The Q M4 boasts four inputs: 2 x conventional analogue stereo line level inputs (1 x 3.5mm mini jack, 1 x pair phono sockets), a Bluetooth V4.0 wireless receiver (with advanced aptX capability for improved sound quality) and a digital input featuring a low distortion Digital to Analogue Converter, accessed via a Toslink optical cable. Compatible Smartphones can also connect to the Q M4 using Near Field Communication.

An infrared remote control is supplied with the unit, but it can also be operated by the remote controls that come with many satellite and cable TV boxes, including UK Sky and Virgin models.

The new Q Acoustics Media 4 will be available from authorised dealers from June 2014. Suggested UK retail price £399.95

Included in the box:

  • 1 x Active HI-Fi Soundbar
  • 1 x remote control
  • 1 x 3.5mm jack lead (2 metre)
  • UK & EU power cables
  • 1 x RCA phono lead (2 metre)
  • Wall-mount bracket
