PIEGA Premium Series of speakers

The new generation of PIEGA Premium speakers claims to combine high quality sound with high-end aesthetics in its new range of aluminium-cabinet column and bookshelf speakers, comprising three models: the Premium 701, 501 and 301, featuring PIEGA’s ribbon tweeters. The 501 and 301 feature PIEGA’s established LDR 2642 MKII tweeters, while the flagship 701 debuts the newly developed LDR 3056 high-range ribbon tweeters, used here for the very first time.

The aluminium cabinets have been improved further and play an important role in the precise bass rendition of these new Premium models. Compared to the previous speakers, they are 30% more rigid. Their rounded shape prevents the occurrence of disturbing standing waves inside the cabinet, ensuring optimum transmission of all medium and low frequencies. All models of the Premium series are available in three versions: silver anodised, white varnish with a silver cover, black anodised with a black cover.

The Premium 701 (pictured) uses a 2.5-way system. Two 140 mm MDS converters cater for the bass; one of the two also handles mid-tone emission. The newly developed LDR 3056 ribbon handles the high tones. The Premium 701 can be operated in almost any room size.

The Premium 501 is an extremely slim column loudspeaker, which is only 16cm wide and about one metre tall, ideal for partnering high-quality hi-fi systems in small to medium-sized rooms. The two long-stroke 120 mm MDS low mid-range drivers and the tried-and-tested LDR 2642 MKII ribbon, already praised in numerous test reviews, help the PIEGA Premium 501 to achieve a homogeneous, very detailed and spatial sound.

The Premium 301 is a compact loudspeaker with a baffle about the size of an A4 sheet. Behind the removable fabric cover, a 140 mm MDS low mid-range driver and the LDR 2642 MKII ribbon tweeter ensure homogeneous transmission of all frequencies from 39 to 50 kHz. Is is effective on a shelf, sideboard or a stand in small to medium sized rooms.
