Red SMEG500 arrives in the UK

The Smeg500 refrigerator is now available in the UK in a red finish. The unit, which is the result of collaboration between Smeg, Italian motor manufacturer Fiat and designers Italia Independent, was first introduced in June 2013, available in white or green.

The A+ rated appliance is created from the front end of vintage Fiat 500 cars and has an interior control panel in the style of the Fiat 500 dashboard. It has a price tag in the region of £5,000.

Smeg brand manager John Davies said: “The SMEG500 reflects the creativity behind the Smeg brand. We are always keen to develop the next iconic design on the appliance market and we work closely with other forward-thinking companies along with inspired designers to achieve groundbreaking, innovative products which still have a high build quality.”

The appliance has a net capacity of 100 litres with three removable bottle holders and a removable glass shelf. It operates at 42dB(A) and features Smeg’s automatic defrost system.
