Sirius Buying Group reviews 2017 and looks to 2018

According to Sirius Buying Group Commercial Director Steve Jones (pictured above, far left, with Darren Scott, National Business Development Manager,Peter Gilks, Executive Managing Director and Gordon Jones, Chairman), “2017 has been an exceptional year when compared to 2015 & 2016, with new business growth areas like the addition of new ‘Approved Suppliers’, investment in internal resources, a new data and marketing administrator to help grow the business across new and existing areas, new e-commerce and click&collect platforms all working hard to create new and up-to-the-minute revenue streams to help our members compete. The market is flat at best, so we need to look for EVERY opportunity that can create new incremental growth across the board. We have helped to increase purchasing from our manufacturers and distributors by working closer with our suppliers and giving them added value as an ‘Approved Supplier’ to Sirius. This has helped increase the rebates each member is capable of earning and improve the overall package presented to members from our ‘Approved Suppliers’.”

The Group’s 7th.International Conference (21st to 24th May 2017 in Portugal)  7th was “the best to date”, involving more than 50 member companies, 37 of their business partners and 43 supply delegates ‘Approved Suppliers’, and a record amount of business was written at the event.

The AGM (19th September 2017) achieved a 90% attendance rate, and the Members’ Trade Show on the following day achieved a 95% visitor turnout.

“Next year,” adds Jones, “will see a new set of aims and objectives for the group, with hopes of continuing to steadily grow Sirius memberships with quality retail members. It also aims to work even closer with its suppliers to protect the business it has and maintain its market saturation and well-regarded industry position. By doing so, the group wishes to keep on providing new opportunities to its members for incremental business. Alongside its support for its approved network, Sirius also plans to increase its own brand awareness and drive more business to its members’ retail outlets via targeted digital marketing: social media and online platforms.”

The 2018 Annual Members’ Trade Show will take place on 18th to 19th September at the Forest of Arden Marriot Hotel & Country Club, Warwickshire. The International Conference is confirmed for Sunday 20th to Wednesday 23rd May 2018 at The 5-star Lakes Hotel, Villamoura.
