Sound United appoints new Senior VP
Sound United LLC, whose brands include Denon®, Marantz®, Polk Audio®, Definitive Technology®, Classe®, Polk BOOM®, HEOS®, and Boston Acoustics® has announced the appointment of Bart Diederik Muller as Senior Vice President of commercial operations Europe. He will head up Sound United’s second largest market and one that is “a key focus over the coming years.” He will report directly to Kevin Duffy, Chief Executive Officer of Sound United.
Muller will replace Terry O’Connell, who is retiring as of September 30, 2018 after nearly three decades of service, most notably leading Sound United’s Marantz and Denon brands, and will continue to drive the company’s core portfolio comprising AV receivers, Hi-Fi and mini-systems, while also leading new category growth in Europe for loudspeakers and soundbars. This responsibility covers the Sound United brands Denon®, Marantz®, Polk Audio®, Definitive Technology®, Classe®, Polk BOOM®, HEOS®, and Boston Acoustics®.
As well as leveraging key regional offices (Germany, Netherlands, France, UK) and export markets to drive sales, he will evaluate the viability of adding more offices throughout the European region to further support efforts.
Muller joins from Stanley Black & Decker, where he served as President of Emerging Markets including Russia, India, Turkey, Middle East and Africa based in Dubai. Prior to this he spent the first 15 years of his career working in audio, including time as general manager for Marantz in the 1990s, before moving on to several longstanding executive leadership positions at Philips, Asia-Pacific, ARC International and First National Glassware. He brings a wealth of strategic and global experience to the role.
Originally hailing from the Netherlands, his first language is Dutch, and he also speaks English, German and French.
