Stoves announces Community Kitchens Campaign winners
Stoves has revealed the three winners of the second leg of its Community Kitchens Campaign after 12,500 votes were cast in a public Facebook vote.
The £20,000 campaign aims to place the kitchen at the heart of local communities.
The first prize of £5,000 worth of Stoves cooking appliances goes to The Vine Centre in Hampshire, which supports homeless adults on the fringes of society across Hampshire and Surrey.
The appliances will allow The Vine Centre to develop a mobile catering service and to promote confidence and independence through the provision of cookery classes.
In second place, receiving £3,000 worth of appliances, is the Seaforth Information Network Group in Merseyside, which supports vulnerable groups in society, including low income families, the over 50s and visually impaired groups.
The appliances will allow the group to provide free school meals for deprived children, including catering for their Ofsted nursery and ensuring all vulnerable groups are catered for nutritionally.
The third prize of £2,000 worth of appliances goes to Lancashire Women’s Centres, which support disadvantaged women by providing training, counselling and employment support. Winning the Stoves appliances will help them to provide hot meals and cookery courses.
Jonathan Casley, Managing Director of Stoves’ parent company Glen Dimplex Home Appliances, said: “We would like to express our congratulations to the winning charities and are delighted we have been able to enhance the care and support they provide to their communities.
“We would also like to thank all those who applied to the competition. We have been astounded by the volume of entries and look forward to the next round.”
