Whirlpool supports Golden Lane Housing charity

Whirlpool UK has donated around 75 appliances to 19 Golden Lane Housing developments across the UK, in locations such as County Down, Liverpool, Leeds and Peterborough.

Golden Lane Housing, a charity providing supported housing to people with learning disabilities, received products including fridge freezers, washing machines, dishwashers and induction hobs, which offer residents increased independence in their homes.

The Peterborough-based appliance company also donated £25,000 to the charity, which houses over 200 people every year and has transformed the lives of over 2,000 people since it was established in 1998.

Rod Dugher, Director of Housing at Golden Lane Housing, said: “Working with Whirlpool has enabled us to provide some of our tenants with the latest technology in their homes to support them with everyday tasks.

“The appliances are enabling people to learn and develop new skills to support with cooking, safe food storage as well as undertake their own washing. Being able to safely do these things is something we all too often take for granted in our homes, and is an important part of being independent and living fulfilling lives.”
